Is sex spiritual? If I’m spiritual, should I be thinking about and enjoying sex? This might be a question that some ask. First and foremost, we are all spiritual beings having a physical experience. You cannot be more or less spiritual. You are what you are. You can be more or less AWARE of your true spiritual (i.e. formless) nature, however your essence remains the same regardless of the level of awareness while in the body.
Sex is an experience just like all other experiences in life. Whether you are working, building relationships, raising children, having sex, or any other experience, they are all experiences. That is why you came here…. to experience life in the physical body and learn to balance and express your energy in a way that is aligned with your true nature.
Sexual energy is part of the creative process and to deny that energy is not beneficial. How that energy is expressed can vary by individual regardless of gender since gender is a physical concept and a limited expression of that energy. Your non-physical nature is a perfectly balanced blend of masculine and feminine energy (i.e. pushing and pulling forces that are part of the creative flow of all existence).
Sexual energy can be expressed in obvious sexual ways individually or by individuals coming together. It can also be expressed in ways that may be considered non-sexual such as a redirecting and channeling of that energy into an activity like manifestation of a new idea into the world of form.
There is no limit to what you can express and manifest as a creator with unlimited potential. Concepts of bad and good or right and wrong are subjective and based on the perspective of the observer. Be true to yourself. Create your world as you walk along your unique path of life.

ReplyDeleteNow considering this perspective, what does that say about people who choose to abstain from sexual activity for what they feel are spiritual purposes?
Your nature is essentially spiritual (formless) and you cannot separate yourself from all that is. Only while we are identified with form, which is to say trapped by ego in a self created mind/thought prison, do we believe we are separate from all that is. EVERY activity and purpose you engage in within the world of form is spiritual in the sense that it is an experience that allows you to grow.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if you are unaware and engaging in lower vibrational experiences or more aware and engaging in higher vibrational experiences. You WILL learn and grow and expand back to source energy because that is the natural flow of all that is. However, lower vibrational activities are seeded with resistance and the seeds of suffering, which, while unpleasant to many, serve as opportunities to transmute oneself through that suffering (fire) into a higher level of awareness whereby one is more aligned with the natural universal current of peace and bliss.
Regarding sexual activity, as mentioned in the original blog post on this topic, that energy (sexual energy composed of male/female subtle, creative forces) can be utilized in a limitless variety of ways. One way is the more commonly expressed method of physical touch, pleasure and sometimes orgasm (a temporary, complete release of resistance) through the body. Another channel for this sexual energy can be non-sexual as defined by society. For example, that same creative energy is used formulate an idea to create a new invention/device which changes how electricity is generated. This is just one example. There are no limits to how your energy can be expressed. It is fine to abstain from sexual activity in the traditional sense. That is a choice. If that energy is channeled into other creative areas, it is still a healthy expression that can benefit those involved.
The only time it becomes unhealthy, is when the energy is suppressed. Then, problems of the body/mind/spirit will manifest as signposts to let you know that a new direction is more appropriate as you continue the infinite journey of consciousness expansion.
